In March 2024, the 13th National Marine Forecasting Director’s Meeting was held in Chengdu. Leaders and experts from the Marine Early Warning and Monitoring Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Chengdu University of Information Technology, competent authorities of natural resources (marine) in coastal provinces and planning municipalities, marine forecasting agencies and relevant units of the Ministry of Natural Resources attended the conference. The conference was hosted by the National Marine Environmental Forecasting Center and co-organized by Chengdu University of Information Technology. Wang Hua, Director of the Marine Early Warning and Monitoring Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources, attended the conference and delivered a speech. The conference was chaired by Chen Zhi, Deputy Director of the National Marine Environmental Forecasting Center.
Shu Hongping, vice president of the university, in his speech, expressed warm congratulations on the convening of the conference, and introduced the disciplinary characteristics and school-running philosophy of Chengdu University of Information Technology, hoping to increase talent training, scientific research and joint technological research in marine and other related fields with the natural resource system in the future work, and contribute to the construction of a strong talent country and a strong ocean country. Subsequently, 19 representatives of the participating units made speeches at the conference, jointly summarizing and exchanging the achievments and experiences in 2023 and the work ideas for 2024. Finally, Yu Fujiang, Director of the National Marine Environmental Forecasting Center, summarized the achievements made by the forecasting center in the past year to anchor the high-quality development of Marine forecasting, promote the innovative development of marine forecasting technology and serve the disaster prevention and reduction of coastal areas, and focused on exchanging how to further do scientific and technological innovation and high-quality development in the field of marine forecasting around new quality productivity.
By co-organizing this conference, our school has further improved its understanding of the national marine strategy, and laid a solid foundation for better promoting “sea-related” education, “sea-related” scientific research, and “sea-related” discipline development in the future.
